2nd Shift Supervisor

Manitowoc, WI 
 

Manitowoc Pattern & Machining (MP&M) is a streamlined, precision machine shop in a state-of-the-art production facility with expertise in machining a large array of materials including plastics and steels commonly used in medical manufacturing, aerospace and automotive racing industries. 
 
Manitowoc Pattern & Machining has over 50 years of machining expertise and is looking for a 2nd shift Supervisor that is driven to successfully develop their team.  
 
As a supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• Training and managing production employees on the assigned shift.

• Overseeing the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift.

• Providing constructive and timely performance feedback and development opportunities.

• Monitoring quoted rates versus actual production.  

• Investigating discrepancies and initiating corrective action as necessary.

• Preparing work schedules to ensure efficient operations and monitoring efficiency to plan.

• Developing and approving work level procedures and process sheets. • Actively monitoring quality throughout the shift and making adjustments as needed to reduce scrap and rework.

• Ensuring that employee training is conducted and documented in accordance with the Quality Management System.

• Holding regular meetings with shift employees to discuss quality, efficiency, safety goals and potential cost reduction opportunities.

• Troubleshooting facility or equipment issues that arise and notify the maintenance department when applicable.

• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment and continuously identifying and eliminating hazardous situations.

• Conducting timely and accurate safety incident investigations and completing all paperwork prior to the end of the assigned shift. • All other duties as assigned. 
 
 
Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.

• Proven attention to detail.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
 
Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum of 3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Associates degree in Business, or related field, preferred but not required.

Machinist

Manitowoc Pattern & Machining has over 50 years of machining expertise and want to add machinists to our team! Are you a machinist with experience in setting up and running lathes? If so, we would like to meet you! 
 
As a machinist, you will be responsible for:

• Determining methods, cutter types and cutting parameters based on the material and design specifications.

• Calculating dimensions or tolerances.

• Designing basic 3-D computer models, drawings and specifications for fabrication of tooling and machined elements.

• Creating 3-5 axis tool paths utilizing Master Cam software.

• Collaborate with engineers to plan the manufacturing process to ensure that quality and design objectives are achieved.

• Complying with AS9100 standards when documenting machine setup.

• Performing general maintenance, cleaning and organization of equipment and tooling.

• Working with the Junior machinists to ensure set up, machining procedures, shop organization and safety rules are followed.

• Performing all other duties as assigned. 
 
Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic math applications.

• Knowledge of machines and tools, production processes and design techniques.

• Ability to use logic and reasoning to solve problems.

• Ability to maintain close attention to detail and accuracy.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
 
 Education and Experience:

• Skilled trades certificate related to machining, or apprentice related schooling required.

• 4 – 5 years of Machinist experience required.

• Experience setting up and running lathes is required.
